Quenching thirst with clean, running water

Fresh, clean water is a precious commodity, yet it is unavailable to one in every six people in the world. Especially in rural areas India where over 80% of the population does not have access to clean drinking water.

In addition to sharing the Gospel, Oasis meets tangible needs. Each fresh-water wells Oasis drills supplies clean, running water for an entire village. On average 250 people visit an Oasis well each day. Oasis has drilled over 330 fresh-water wells with plans to drill 70 more in 2010.

Their water source is contaminated and is up to 4 kilometers away. People in India spend an average of four hours per day collecting and purifying water for their families.

Oasis World Ministries reaches these remote places by giving them what they need most… clean drinking water. Quenching their physical thirst increases their thirst for the “Living Water.”

John 4:13 -14 Jesus answered, "Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life."

Oasis also strategically builds churches within sight of the well. Founder and Evangelist Tom Elie said, “We want the villagers to know that God has provided this awesome blessing, and God’s doors are always open.”

Rev 22:17b “Whoever is thirsty, let him come; and whoever wishes, let him take the free gift of the water of life.”

The fresh-water well is available 24 hours a day to people of all castes and beliefs.

At a fresh-water well dedication, the entire village gathers around to celebrate the excitement of clean water for the first time. The village shows their gratitude, because they know their lives will be changed forever. During the well dedication the Gospel is preached for the glory of God.
